Oncology

When diagnosed with cancer, it is normal to feel anxious about your physician visits. At the DHR Health Oncology Institute, you can expect nothing less than compassionate, patient-centered care from a staff that is dedicated to providing excellent cancer treatment and support services to their community. Gynecology Oncology

Gynecologic oncology focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the female reproductive system. These cancers may include cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, vaginal cancer, endometrial cancer, vulvar cancer, and uterine cancer.

Hematology

Hematology is the field of medicine concerning the diagnosis of blood disorders and cancers. These disorders and cancers include: leukemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell, iron deficiency anemia, and lymphoma.

Medical Oncology

Oncology is most commonly known to the public as cancer. Although this condition is devastating, our team of skilled oncologists and staff are here to support you every step of the way. We offer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, infusion, and other services. Some of the common cancers we treat include breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, colorectal cancer, lung, and brain cancer.

Palliative Care

Our palliative care team focuses on physical and emotional symptoms, social concerns and answering any other questions you may have. We will work closely with your medical team to help manage symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which may include nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, depression, anxiety and fatigue. Know that you are not alone. We are here to guide and assist when making difficult medical decisions.

Radiation Oncology

We provide the most advanced radiation therapy eqipment in the Rio Grande Valley, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, mammosite radiation therapy, and high dose radiobrachytherapy.

Urology Oncology

Urologic oncology is specialized to the cancers of the urinary tracts of men and women, including cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and testes. Our highly trained urologist oncologist also performs surgery for our urologic oncologic patients.

Breast Surgical Oncology

Our breast surgical oncology team specializes in the diagnosis and surgical management of breast cancer and other breast-related conditions. We offer procedures such as lumpectomy, mastectomy, and lymph node evaluation, with a focus on individualized, compassionate care and optimal surgical outcomes.

Colorectal Surgery

Colorectal surgery addresses diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including colorectal cancer, polyps, and inflammatory bowel disease. Our expert surgeons provide comprehensive care using advanced surgical techniques tailored to each patient’s condition.

Endocrinology Surgery

Our endocrine surgery team provides specialized care for disorders of hormone-producing glands, including the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. We focus on precise surgical intervention to manage both benign and malignant conditions affecting the endocrine system.

Hepatobiliary Surgery

Hepatobiliary surgery focuses on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions involving the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Our multidisciplinary team treats complex cases such as tumors, cysts, and bile duct obstructions using state-of-the-art surgical approaches.

Neurosurgery

Our neurosurgery specialists deliver advanced surgical care for tumors affecting the brain, spine, and skull base. We combine innovation with expertise to ensure patients receive comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care tailored to their unique needs.
