Biography
Dr. Naomi D’Acolatse is a board-certified family physician and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians with more than 24 years of experience in academic medicine, clinical care, and public health. She is the founding Program Director of the DHR Health Family Medicine Residency Program, dedicated to training the next generation of physicians, advancing primary care, and reducing health disparities.
She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and holds a Master of Public Health. She also completed a fellowship in Academic Medicine at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
Previously, Dr. D’Acolatse served as Associate Dean for Educational Affairs at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, overseeing all components of the four-year medical curriculum. She currently serves as Medical Director for Hope Family Health Center, providing integrated care to uninsured and low-income families across the Rio Grande Valley.
Since 2006, Dr. D’Acolatse has been a federal HRSA grant reviewer, guiding national strategies to improve healthcare access, address workforce shortages, and reduce chronic disease burdens. Her global health work spans Mozambique, Latin America, and the Caribbean, focusing on compassionate care for vulnerable populations.
She is an active leader in the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, serving on the Council on Workforce and Member Engagement and as President-Elect of the Valley Chapter. She also holds a voluntary faculty appointment as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. D’Acolatse enjoys time with her husband, their two daughters, and their cavapoo.
