Headaches in general and migraines in particular, are common conditions that can interfere with work, school, and everyday activities. To help community members better understand these conditions, DHR Health will host a free educational seminar titled “Understanding Headaches and Migraines to Improve Quality of Life.” The event will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 118 Paseo Del Prado in Edinburg. The seminar is free and open to the public.
The seminar will be led by Dr. Gloria Simms, a dual board-certified neurologist and headache medicine specialist at DHR Health. She is the only physician in the Rio Grande Valley board-certified in headache medicine by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. In her practice, Simms cares for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, with a special focus on headaches and migraines. She is passionate about helping patients better understand their condition and take steps to improve their quality of life.
During the session, Simms will discuss the different types of headaches and migraines, common triggers, and available treatment and management options.
“Headaches and migraines can significantly impact a person’s quality of life, but many people don’t realize there are effective ways to manage them. My hope is that this seminar helps community members better understand their symptoms and learn about the options available to help them feel better,” said Simms.
The following day, March 28, 2026, DHR Health will also host a Headache Symposium for healthcare professionals in collaboration with the DHR Health Continuing Medical Education Department. Additional details about the medical conference will be shared in a separate announcement.
