Visiting Hours

We have policies and procedures in place to help you and your family. Work with our doctors, nurses, and staff to get the most from your hospital stay. Please take a few minutes to review these guidelines with your loved ones.
General Visitation Guidelines
  • Visiting hours are from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM
  • A maximum of two (2) visitors at the bedside is permitted.
  • Visitors must be twelve (12) years of age and older.
  • Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the department director. Exceptions to the above (e.g., for dying or critically ill patients) may be made at the discretion of the nurse or physician.
  • Visitors may be required to check in with Security prior to receiving access to a particular unit.
  • Only one family member 18 years of age or older may be permitted to remain with the patient overnight. The visitor is expected to remain with the patient as access in and out of the facility is restricted after 8:00 PM Extenuating circumstances may exist that contraindicate family staying overnight and those situations should be reviewed by the department manager/designee.
  • At the discretion of hospital staff, visitation may be restricted for the health and safety of the patient and/or staff.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the patient care area at any time to facilitate physician/ nursing care and/ or procedures.
  • The General Hospital Visitation Guidelines apply to all areas within the hospital unless otherwise indicated in the Department Specific Guidelines.

Department Specific Visitation Guidelines

Behavioral Health Psychiatric Services

Children - Everyday
Only Parents and Grandparents, 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM
Adolescents - Everyday
Only Parents and Grandparents, 5:15 PM to 6:00 PM
Adults & Geriatrics - Everyday
Visitors must be 17 & up, 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM

Critical Care Units
  • 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM
  • Immediate family only (Quiet time is observed from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM)
Emergency Department (ED)
  • Based on the patient’s status, a maximum of one family members/friends may be permitted in the patient care area of the ED. Exceptions may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • If circumstances warrant, the ED nurse or physician may need to ask the family members/ friends to return to the Waiting Room.
  • Family members/friends allowed in the patient care areas must remain in the patient’s individual treatment area/room. Other visitors must remain in the Waiting Room.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Visiting hours are from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM
  • One visitor may remain at the bedside during standard visiting hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM).
  • Additional family/friends may visit during the standard ICU visitation times stated above.
Labor and Delivery
  • Any exceptions regarding visitation should be a collaborative decision between nursing staff and the physician.
  • Father, significant other, or a person of the patient’s choice, with permission of the obstetrical physician and request of the patient, may support the patient in the delivery room.
  • Support person should be at least 18 years of age.
  • Only one banded individual may accompany the infant in the Newborn Nursery at any given time.
  • Up to four (4) visitors at any given time may be permitted at the viewing window.
Ante Partum
  • Two (2) visitors age 12 & up permitted. Only patient’s children over the age of one (1) permitted.
Post Partum/ Gynecology
  • A maximum of four (4) visitors may be permitted at any given time.
  • Visitors must be age 12 & up. Only patient’s children over the age of one (1) permitted.

  • Only banded parents or grandparents may enter the NICU.
  • No individuals under the age of 18 are allowed in the NICU.
  • A maximum of two visitors may remain at the bedside as patient care permits.
  • All visitors must comply with NICU three minute hand-washing regulations prior to entering the unit.

  • Visitors over 4years of age will be allowed to visit during specified hours only if accompanied by an adult.
  • The visiting hours for ages 4-17 years will be from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM only if accompanied by an adult.
  • Visiting children shall be free of any signs or symptoms of infection.
  • Children shall not be allowed to play unsupervised in the halls or other areas of the hospital. They must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
Pre-Operative Areas (Includes units at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance)
  • A Maximum of two visitors may remain at the bedside as patient care permits
Post-Operative Areas (Includes units at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance)
  • No visitors will be allowed during Phase I of the recovery period.
  • During Phase II, a maximum of two visitors at the bedside is permitted as patient condition allows.
