DHR Augments Rehabilitation Program with Patients Using Ekso GT™ Robotic Exoskeleton
    Edinburg, TX

Edinburg, TX—  Doctors Hospital At Renaissance Health System (DHR), announced today that the Rehabilitation Hospital at Renaissance now offers enhanced rehabilitation services for their patients through the use of Ekso Bionics’ patented technology. Ekso Bionics is a leading robotic exoskeleton company and Ekso GT™ is the first exoskeleton cleared by the FDA for use with stroke, and spinal cord injury levels to C7.  As a leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation, DHR is proud to incorporate Ekso GT into its practice to continue offering patients leading edge technological options to optimize their health and wellness.
“Integrating Ekso GT robotic exoskeleton as part of our overall practice offers a huge benefit to many of our patients as it allows for early intervention and task specific, repetitive exercises” said Saroja Viswamitra, Medical Director at the Rehabilitation Hospital at Renaissance. “Ekso GT can help to mobilize patients earlier, more frequently and with a greater number of high intensity steps”
As DHR observed, patients who did their gait therapy with Ekso GT showed improvement in balance, cadence and the overall number of steps taken over those who did not.  In fact, Ekso Bionics has reported that most patients take an average as 400 steps their first time in Ekso GT.
“We are proud to partner with DHR to offer leading treatment options for many patients who have suffered stroke or spinal cord injury. Early, daily, intense mobility task training provided by the Ekso GT can help to improve the patient’s functional abilities, and it’s a significant measure of our success to be a part of that,” said Tom Looby, CEO and President of Ekso Bionics.  “This partnership is a reflection of our shared commitment to augment human capability.”
