The Behavioral Hospital at Renaissance recently launched its Intensive Outpatient Program, which provides group therapy sessions, family therapy sessions, and individual therapy sessions in a structured therapeutic treatment environment for individuals with mental illness. Outpatient treatment provides intensive therapy and behavioral health intervention that patients need, without requiring inpatient care and hospitalization.
The Intensive Outpatient Program aims to help patients gain in-depth knowledge about their diagnoses and symptoms. Physicians and counselors help patients learn to identify and work through the early warning signs that precede relapse symptoms in an effort to reduce hospital readmissions. Throughout the program, the patient care team guides patients to practice newly learned skills to manage symptoms in a safe and supportive setting. In addition, the program is designed to provide the necessary long-term support for individuals returning to the community after discharge from an acute care facility. Services are provided for adults ages 18 and above.
The program runs under the guidance of Diego Rodriguez, MD, Intensive Outpatient Program Medical Director, and Jose Igoa, MD, Behavioral Hospital at Renaissance Medical Director. On-going communication with the Primary Care physician is a program priority.
