Adult Volunteers
Our Adult Volunteer Program offers community members who are 18 years of age and older opportunities to interact with patients at various levels of care, provide clerical or administrative support, or to assist hospital team members in other ways that reinforce the hospital's mission of delivering extraordinary patient care.

VolunTEEN Program for High School Students
The VolunTEEN Program is designed to encourage youth to get involved in their community by assisting with departmental needs that improve service to patients and their families at DHR. The program is designed for teenagers ages 15 to 18 and gives them opportunities to gain valuable employment skills, develop professional relationships, and get a first-hand look at health care.

We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2018 VolunTEEN Program! 

If you are interested in applying for the summer VolunTEEN program, please make sure review all information provided in the online application before you apply. Due to a large number of returning students, space in the program will be limited.

Application deadline is on March 30, 2018 by 5:00 p.m.
Please note there are no exceptions to the requirements below.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

VolunTEEN Requirements
  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 18 as of June 11, 2018.
  • Be willing to fully commit to our 8 week program. The program will run from June 11th - August 5th.
  • Be able to serve at least 8 hours per week during the summer. A commitment of at least 60 total hours is required.
  • Complete a 500-word essay, stating your reason(s) for volunteering.
  • Schedule/ attend a group interview with Volunteer Services.
  • Complete and pass a health screening and TB test.
  • Attend a mandatory four-hour orientation day on either Saturday, May 19th or Sunday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Summer 2017 VolunTEEN Program Important Dates
  • Application Deadline: Friday, March 30th by 5:00 p.m.
  • Group Interviews: April 9th - April 26th
  • Final Acceptance Letters Emailed: Friday, May 4th
  • Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 19th or Sunday, May 20th from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
  • Summer Program (8 weeks):  June 11th - August 5th
    • We allow a maximum of 2 weeks for vacation and/or summer camp. The weeks do not have to be consecutive.  However, VolunTEENs must volunteer at least 6 weeks in order to be considered for the program.  Vacation time must be submitted no later than the first day of the program.
