Our Adult Volunteer Program offers community members who are 18 years of age and older opportunities to interact with patients at various levels of care, provide clerical or administrative support, or to assist hospital team members in other ways that reinforce the hospital's mission of delivering extraordinary patient care.

VolunTEEN Program for High School Students
The VolunTEEN Program is designed to encourage youth to get involved in their community by assisting with departmental needs that improve service to patients and their families at DHR. The program is designed for teenagers ages 15 to 18 and gives them opportunities to gain valuable employment skills, develop professional relationships, and get a first-hand look at health care.
The application period for the Spring 2017 VolunTEEN Program is now open and applications will be accepted until the end of January 2017. The program will run between January and May.

Summer 2017 VolunTEEN Program Update:
We are now accepting applications for our Summer 2017 VolunTEEN Program! If you are interested in applying for our summer program, please make sure review the application packet before you apply. Due to a large number of returning students, space in the program will be limited.

Please note there are no exceptions to the requirements below.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
Must be between the ages of 15 and 18 as of June 12, 2017.
Be willing to fully commit to our 8 week program. The program will run from June 12th - August 6th.
Be able to serve at least 8 hours per week during the summer. A commitment of at least 60 total hours is required.
Complete a 500-word essay, stating your reason(s) for volunteering.
Schedule/ Attend a group interview with Volunteer Services.
Complete and pass a health screening and TB test.
Attend a mandatory four-hour orientation day on either Saturday, May 20th or Sunday, May 21st from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
VolunTEENs take pride in appearance. All VolunTEENs must wear their hospital issued ID badge and uniform at all times. Required uniform polos are available to purchase for $20. The polo is to be worn with khaki bottoms and closed-toe shoes. Jeans, shorts, and sandals are NOT permitted.

Application Deadline: Friday, March 31st by 5:00pm
Group Interviews: April 10th - April 27th
Final Acceptance Letters Emailed: Friday, May 5th
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 20th or Sunday, May 21st from 9:00am-1:00pm
Summer Program (8 weeks): June 12th - August 6th
We allow a maximum of 2 weeks for vacation and/or summer camp. The weeks do not have to be consecutive. However, VolunTEENs must volunteer at least 6 weeks in order to be considered for the program. Vacation time must be submitted no later than the first day of the program.
