Three Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Imaging Centers earn ACR AccreditationThree Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Imaging Centers Earn ACR Accreditation

Doctors Hospital at Renaissance is proud to announce that three of its imaging centers have been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR)! The three imaging centers awarded ACR accreditation are Med Point Imaging Center, Lone Star Imaging Center, and the radiology department located on DHR’s Main Campus. CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

The Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Awards recognize hospitals that have demonstrated excellence in health care quality through improved performance on national quality measures. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance is one of 118 hospitals in Texas that received the Silver Award. The awards acknowledge hospitals for improving care related to acute myocardial infarction or AMI (heart attack), heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. These clinical areas have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission, the nation’s predominant independent, non-profit, standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Awards recognize Texas hospitals that have undertaken quality initiatives to improve outcomes in patient care and have improved their performance on specific national quality measures. Hospitals qualify for an award based on a composite scoring system, called the Appropriate Care Measure. Hospitals entered the program in September 2010, demonstrating their commitment to quality improvement, and over the course of 12 months worked to improve the quality of care for clinical topics related to acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
