Renaissance Bariatric Surgical Weight Loss Program
For men and women who are 100 pounds overweight or have serious co-morbidities related to your weight, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance offers a surgical weight loss program. The procedure used is called Gastric Bypass Roux-En-Y. This procedure reduces the capacity of the stomach, thereby allowing the individual to feel full and take in less food. The gastric bypass, in particular, reroutes the path food travels during digestion so that the body absorbs fewer calories.
In recognizing clinically severe obesity as a major health problem, The National Institutes of Health describes these surgical procedures as established treatment options for individuals who may not be able to lose weight by any other means. Our highly trained and experienced Medical Director performs the procedures and oversees a multi-disciplinary program tailored to meet the individual needs of our patients, both prior to and following surgery. This program also offers a support group, nutritional counseling, and exercise therapy.

LOSE WEIGHT, NOT HOPE!
If you are clinically obese and nonsurgical methods such as dieting, exercise, behavior modification and medication have failed to achieve long-term weight-loss control, then bariatric or weight-loss surgery may be the answer.
Bariatric surgery is designed to help patients lose weight rapidly while diminishing or eliminating co-existing health problems. Dr. Robert Alleyn, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Bariatric Weight-Loss Center, performs two of the most advanced surgical options with a team approach comprehensive weight-loss program. Bariatric surgery has outstanding success, with a proved track record of excellent weight-loss, dramatic improvements in quality of life, and resolution of weight-associated medical problems.
ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS PROCEDURE
The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure continues to be considered the “gold standard” for bariatric surgery. It is a time-tested operation, dating back to the late 1960’s. It has been demonstrated to have the best long-term results in comparison to other available procedures. The procedure can be preformed either as a traditional open procedure or through the minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure.
LAPAROSCOPIC ADJUSTABLE GASTRIC BAND SURGERY (LAGB OR LAP BAND)
Lap Band surgery controls the amount of food you consume with the insertion of a hollow silicone band that is placed around the top of the stomach. The band creates as small pouch and narrow passageway allowing food to slowly pass through. The band is adjusted after the surgery and as needed with weight loss. With the Lap Band surgery there is no permanent alterations to the stomach or digestive system and the band can be removed.
