Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Initiates Benefit Concert
EDINBURG, TX— Doctors Hospital at Renaissance presents “Haitian Relief Jam,” a benefit concert in conjunction with the hospital-wide efforts initiated immediately upon news of the disaster. The concert will be held Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Cine El Rey, located at 311 S. 17th Street in the City of McAllen Entertainment District. Isaac Guerra, owner of Cine El Rey, graciously donated use of his facility for the “Haitian Relief Jam”. A special performance by the Renaissance Rockers will begin at 7:00 PM.
The Renaissance Rockers, a local rock band, is comprised of physicians and healthcare providers. The Renaissance Rockers includes Dr. Carlos Cardenas, DHR Chairman of the Board, Dr. Noel Oliveira, Hyperbaric Medicine physician, and Dr. Carlos Morales, Cardiologist. The Renaissance Rockers share their talent with non-profit organizations in the community and immediately agreed to assist in the Haitian relief efforts. The world premier of the song Haiti, written by Dr. Carlos Morales, will occur at the “Haitian Relief Jam” on January 21st, 2010.
“Music is the international language. So, what better way to convey our concern and support for the people of Haiti than by giving from the heart,” states Dr. Carlos Cardenas, DHR Chairman of the Board and member of the Renaissance Rockers.
Dr. Cardenas continues, “The Renaissance Rockers initiated the ‘Haitian Relief Jam’ without hesitation. We want to do all that we can to get the community involved with Haitian relief efforts.” Further, “The Renaissance Rockers are always there to rock for a cause and a cure,” says Dr. Noel Oliveira, DHR Hyperbaric Medicine physician and Renaissance Rockers band member.
General admission tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Cine El Rey box office or at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Marketing Department. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and the Salvation Army, which are providing humanitarian aid, service and supplies to Haiti. The cost of the ticket and any additional donations are tax-deductible.
In addition to the “Haitian Relief Jam” and hospital-wide fundraising efforts, two Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Neurosurgeons, Dr. Gustavo Ramos and Dr. Juan Padilla, will travel to Haiti to assist with medical relief efforts.
