Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Receives National Recognition for Endoscopy Services
Edinburg, Texas – Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) today announced they had been awarded a National Certificate of Recognition by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for quality services and patient safety. The ASGE Unit Recognition Program is designed to honor facilities that excel in following the ASGE guidelines for quality care. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance is one of only 68 facilities recognized across the nation this year.
“The ASGE recognition reflects our commitment to bringing our patients the very best in medical care. We are extremely proud of our physicians, nurses, techs, and staff. Their hard work and dedication to putting the needs of patients first made this possible,” said Dr. Lawrence Gelman, Chief Executive Officer for DHR.
“A key component of our success is the commitment of our staff to invest in the latest medical research, education, and training. Our Endoscopy Department excelled by completing numerous courses on the latest guidelines and best practices in Endoscopy Care by the ASGE,” said Marissa Castaneda, Chief Operations Officer at DHR.
ASGE is the premier entity in issues regarding endoscopic procedures and safety protocols in the nation. “This recognition is another achievement by the DHR Endoscopy Unit, which goes with our dedication in providing not only cutting-edge technology, but assuring quality to our community,” said Dr. Rafael Amaro, Chairman of Endoscopy at DHR.
Endoscopy is a diagnostic medical procedure that is used to assess the interior surfaces of an organ by inserting a tube into the body. The instrument may have a rigid or flexible tube and not only provide an image for visual inspection and photography, but also enable taking biopsies and retrieval of foreign objects. Endoscopy is the vehicle for minimally invasive surgery and patients may receive conscious sedation so they do not have to be consciously aware of the discomfort.
As the profession’s leader, ASGE sets the standards of excellence in endoscopy through its guidelines and training so that patients receive the best and safest care possible. The National Certificate of Recognition awarded to DHR is issued for a three-year period.
“Once again, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance has renewed is commitment to providing some of the world’s best healthcare right here at home,” stated Laura Cantu, Director of Endoscopy at DHR. “We are excited and proud to be the largest and most advanced GI/Endoscopy lab in South Texas.”
